The new Qseven™ Rev. 2.0 embedded platform MSC Q7-MB-EP5 offers a variety of interfaces commonly used in embedded applications such as Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, RS232/485 and CAN as well as DisplayPort and LVDS display interfaces. In addition, a mini PCI Express™, an mSATA and an SD Card socket are supported to extend the functionality of the baseboard. The graphics output of the Qseven module is either routed directly to the DisplayPort connector or fed to an HDMI/DP converter which optionally converts to DisplayPort signaling. The Qseven slot of the board is compliant with Qseven rev. 2.0 but can support all other Qseven revisions as well. The EP5 was designed to be a low-cost carrier board for medium volume applications. All features (e.g. backlight power voltage, backlight dimming, voltage level of display signals etc.) can be set by zero-ohms resistors and hence will have to be customized for volume production. Therefore, the EP5 is not suited for low-volume applications. The MSC Q7-MB-EP6 (x86) and the MSC Q7-MB-EP4-001 (ARM) are suggested for use in low-volume Qseven applications.
